80:40.5W A leisurely start and a two hour motor
up Beaufort River under clear blue skies and a tie up in a transient
slip at the Downtown Marina - right in the ehart of old Beaufort (second
oldest city in South Carolina). A very pleasant afternoon walking the
streets with a guide of the old houses (circa 1750's) and narrative of their
history / owners in streets lined with immense live oak trees drapped in
spanish moss - perfect settings for watercolour pictures!. Complimented by
views over the salt marches and creeks. Evening dinner out and to a sports
bar for the superbowl - several drinks later (American football matches are so
long...) we wandered back to the boat!
