Sunday
morning - a day to rest....well, after a 6 mile run and a late "sleep
in" for someone!! Breakfast brunch...and then the beach beckoned for us to
visit! A short drive (10 minutes) to Hutchinson Island south and miles upon
miles of rolling Atlantic surf, very hot sands(!) and cumulus skies.
Interestingly, the beach was darker sand than across the water in the Bahamas -
due to the shell composition mainly mother of pearl oyster shell fragments
and no coral. The holiday competition starts with a match of beach bowls -
although not "Petanque" this time - just back to playing good
old "English family rules"! A stop-over at a Tiki Bar on the way back
overlooking Fort Pierce entrance reminded us it was memorial Day bank
holiday weekend - the musician was playing very patriotic songs(!), the
crowd were up saluting(!), singing(!) and dancing(!) .... we all had a
very good time. Dockside bbq rounded off the restful day...oh the final of
Lord of the Rings! Phil and Di |
