Day 4 - Charleston - Southport/Georgetown

the night wore on - the winds abated with the early dawn. Our position was
no further north but further out to sea - acceptable given the circumstances -
although we were very tired! A peak outside - we were in the thickest of thick
fog!! Light winds still blowing from the north. Decision to turn back and run
with the winds to Wynah Bay - we knew the entrance, we did not want to beat to
wind anymore...so with the fog horn on hand and blowing at frequent intervals we
kept a watch for traffic in the dense mist, sleet and snow! Gradually shacking
reefs out of the sails as the wind eased - we were making good progress to the
bay entrance. Dropped the anchor just away from the old lighthouse as per the
chart markings. We were safe, sound and exhausted! A hot meal and a long
sleep.....
