Day 7 - Western Atlantic

27:16.6N
74:43.6W
A
day of making solid progress towards our destination - a fresh F4 wind from the
NE remained with us all day - perfect reaching weather along our rumb line
- recording noon-to-noon of 131nm - and a strong feeling we will beat our best
run tomorrow. We all enjoyed long spells of helming under a cloudless sky and
relatively calm seas. Although the day was not without its incident - in
the late afternoon the anchor had worked its restraining pin loose and decided
to deploy itself - whilst we were sailing at 8 knots!
Thankfully it cleared the hull quickly and 50ft of chain later came to
a halt on the windlass (well above the sea bed). An unscheduled boat stop to
haul it in manually and re-secure and we were on our way again. No visible
damage done. Magic Friday is sailing again peacefully into the sunset. Phil,
