Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Our position is 55.41.651N 12:35.927E Distance covered 9.2 Nm The morning was sunny but the wind was cold and from the North so we motored the few miles round to Langelinie marina, near the little mermaid. We got a good view of the aeroplanes taking off from the airport and flying overhead and also the more commercial city docks, but we were soon picking up a stern buoy and tying up in the little circular harbour. We had some difficulty with the automated payment machine as it failed to issue the required payment confirmation and access card and then went into a sulk and froze. A helpful local said the harbourmaster would be there sometime in the afternoon, but we wanted to go into town so were reluctant to wait indefinitely. They also charge extra if they have to come to your boat to collect money, but we decided to demonstrate it wasn’t our fault and set off to the tourist information office so we could plan our activities on Monday. The bridge is a tunnel at the end we were sailing so we didn’t have to pass under it One way to spend a Sunday; from a distance I thought they might be praying – on reflection they probably were A close encounter with something authoritative on the way in to Copenhagen harbour Tied up safely Like any capital city everything was open even though it was Sunday and the streets were thronged with tourists. Tourist information were open and helpful and we even found a small supermarket selling cake on the way back. The little mermaid – very hard to get a clear view through the throngs of tourists Somebody’s sons were turned to oxen apparently and this is a statue of the occasion The marble church Plenty of street vendors The real thing and the Lego equivalent; The building is the equivalent of Buckingham Palace Walking back through the Kastellet.
