Having just looked up our last blog I see we had arrived in Plymouth Ma and Kay was ready to catch her flight back home. I followed a couple of weeks later after getting some maintenance done, a survey for the insurance company, and all the laying up work, which was more focussed on frost protection than usual.
Back home there was plenty to do but the boat is always in mind. especially when hurricane Sandy was on the news, and checking on the weather  showed New England was having a worse winter than we had.
Relieved then to find Moorglade in pretty good shape when I returned on May 17th. Just as well that I was not in a hurry to get afloat again, as Brewers Marina had only just finished renewing its docks after the winter storm damage and there were a couple of rows of boats to launch before they could get to me.The time passed quickly in generally pleasant weather, and with support and hospitality from John and Travis.

John and Jim joined me for the sail through the Cape Cod Canal to Marion on Tuesday 4th June. Conditions were ideal and it was good to be under way again. The only setback was when entering the canal we were told it was temporally closed while new power cables were taken across by helicopter. We pulled into the harbour of refuge at Sandwich for a couple of hours but still had a favourable tide through the canal and a good breeze to take us down Buzzards Bay to Marion, where we moored up on John's buoy. Another Adventure is spending this summer on the shore.

Lots more jobs to do including sorting out a new pole, replacing the spinnaker halyards, fitting a new carburettor to the outboard, replacing a split hose on the engine and an apparently never ending list of  little bits of maintenance and preparation. Jim and Travis have sorted out the provisioning and much of the stores are stowed with just the fresh food to get once we have a film departure date.
That is the next decision, we had hoped to leave on Wednesday but the forecast is deteriorating 40 kts NE is not helpful, and it seems likely now we will be delayed. As I type the rain is pouring down and the wind is getting up a bit. Breakfast at Jim's tomorrow and careful study of the latest Gribs.
