After saying goodbye to Another Adventure, and arranging to meet up again in Marion, Liberty and Moorglade left Lawrence Cove in perfect weather, sunny with a light warm breeze, and headed the few miles back to Indian Creek but this time going a little further inland to The Chesapeake Yacht Basin. Actually it was less grand than the name might suggest but never the less it was a pleasant little marina with floating docks (pontoons) which are a lot nicer than piles.
On the way out of Dividing Creek I heard Liberty's engine alarm sound. Bob soon had her anchored to investigate. A broken belt was the cause which he soon replaced and we were off again.
Bob and Joy were welcoming guests aboard Liberty for the weekend and they kindly invited me to join Ken, Jay and Michele for dinner that evening, at a little restaurant in the nearby town of Kilmarnock.

I discovered that this is Memorial Weekend in the US, a holiday weekend when servicemen are remembered. As I was filling up Moorglade's water tanks in the morning I was curious about a small group of oldish men in white uniforms and peaked caps. I discovered they were flag officers of the Richmond Section of The United States Power Boat Squadron. It all seemed very American, and a bit OTT, as the Stars and Stripes was slowly raised up to the spreaders of a nearby sail boat while the national anthem played, but my amusement turned to respect when a middle aged lady made a short speech with emotion in her voice. Who knows she could have lost a son in Afghanistan for all I knew.
Having made good use of the marina facility I motored off to Bells Creek to anchor and wait for Liberty to return from her sail in the bay with her guests aboard. We had arranged that Bob would pick me up in his dinghy, mine was still deflated, to attend a barbeque and concert at the local country/yacht club. The food was excellent, the Jimmy Buffet tribute band seemed very competent, although I can't say I know what the originals sound like, and the company very sociable, so all in all a very pleasant afternoon.
