A family affair (part 3)

The following day we moved the mile and a half to the guest harbour on Grinda. What a contrast! We didn’t realise, but they were having a 20 year celebration so the harbour was packed – we had to wait for someone to leave before we could tie up between two large motor boats - and there was live music, helicopter and speed boat rides and other family entertainments adding to the bustle and noise. The music went on into the night. We had lunch ashore then Ted and I relaxed on board while the others explored the village’s delights. In the evening someone went by riding on the jet from his jetski. It was so quick I couldn’t take a picture, but he must have been 20ft in the air suspended on a water jet and towing his jetski behind. What a scary activity!
On Sunday we moved about 4 Nm to another anchorage, this time on the island of Gallno. The sheltered bay offered a small sandy beach and calm waters for rowing tuition. It was very peaceful except for a short period in the evening, when a cold front moved through very fast, bringing really squally wind and rain and blowing the dinghy up in the air and flipping it over so it was suspended from the outboard on the side rail. Luckily it didn’t last very long, but it must have spooked some of the boats tied to rocks as they moved out onto a swinging anchor.

From there it was back to Vaxholm so they could catch a bus back to Stockholm and the rest of their holiday. The end of their time on the boat marked by a delicious restaurant meal in the evening.
