Tuesday 5th April
We left Tyrell Bay at 10:00 after an undisturbed
night but not before Ronnie had rowed over from Gaucho to Moorglade with a
freshly baked loaf of very tasty lemon bread. Thanks Ronnie!
Sailed close to the wind with reefed main and small
headsail, making steady uneventful progress.
We had intended to anchor behind the reef at
Clifton, but as there seemed to be little room left and boat boy "Skipper"
assured us that holding was poor and his mooring buoys just off the town were
strong, we gave in and let him help us with the mooring. It proved perfectly
satisfactory and as he said everybody in Clifton knew him. I went ashore to the
nearby airport to clear customs and immigration as Union Island is one of
the St Vincent Grenadines.
We explored Clifton the following morning finding
it to be a very friendly laid back little town. We shopped and took our
purchases back to the boat before returning to Jennifer's bar where she
cooked us a late lunch.
What was left of the afternoon was spent dinghying
round the lagoon, visiting a little island created out of unwanted conch shells
which is now a home to a rather expensive bar.
Light evening meal on board after our late
lunch and off to bed.

aircraft.
