We wanted an early start on Thursday morning as we had to be back in Winthrop in good time for Kirsty's flight back to the UK. We left before breakfast at 8:15. It was calm and misty when we left and as the wind started to freshen from the sea, banks of dense fog rolled in. This did delay breakfast a little because with quite a few contacts on the radar it seemed sensible to have one of us on the radar and chartplotter while the other kept a sharp look out. The lobster pot buoys were hard to avoid. After a while in deeper water and less boats working the lobster pots we were able to have our breakfasts sequentially. The wind continued to freshen and, as forecast, the fog lifted at 10:30. There were occasional fog patches after that but it turned into a good fast sail on a close reach. We made very good time and were back on the mooring buoy off Winthrop Yacht Club by 14:30, plenty of time for Kirsty to pack her bags. we had an earl meal in the yacht club before the taxi arrived to take Kirsty to the airport and back to London.
