We are close hauled on starboard tack, and have
been for nearly two days now. Yesterday afternoon the wind was quite light and
the sea calm but by the evening it had come up to about 20 knots so the main was
reefed, during the night it freshened further requiring the genoa to be wound in
to the size of a number three. Back up to a full genoa now but still with
reduced main. The sea remains choppy.We are pleased to be making good speed in
the right direction but it does make the domestics that bit more of a
challenge. However if that is the price to pay for covering the miles
under sail then no complaints from me.
