We are now rocking and rolling on a bouy in the outer harbour at Luarca. The sail here from Gijon was very good with a fair breeze from behind giving us up to 8kts down the waves with the cruising shute up. the approach was a bit hectic with waves breaking on the walls. We are moored to a rusty bouy with a 30m warp back to a bollard on the outer harbour wall holing us in a stern too position. There are two other yacht similarly moored nearby. As soon as we dinghyied into the inner harbour the scene changed into a picturesque holiday fishhing port and there was the added bonus of a bagpipe parade with all the bands in traditional dress.
Our departure from Gijon was delayed an exra day by poor weather (westerly wind, rain and the cloud down to the deck) and a realisation that Peter was going to find it very hard to get to the airport from Cudilero. Time for reading and relaxation as well as many visits to the chart agent who assured us the chart we wanted was about arrive. It hadn't by close of buiness at 20:15. We retired to the tapas bar for a pleasant evening.
