The end of the summer

Moorglade's Voyage

We had to wait for two days after arriving before the boat could be lifted out. This gave us plenty of time to prepare everything in anticipation but unfortunately we awoke on lift out day to the sound of the rain thudding onto the deck.

It was waterproofs on for the trip to the fuel pontoon and then over to the crane. None of the team clustering round the boat looked happy about the weather but fortunately it eased up so nothing got too soggy.

looks OK now

Before long the mast was off and the boat was out and on the trailer for the short journey to the Baltic Kolln yard, behind the climbing wall silo.

Let’s hope the slings don’t break

The whole thing was very slick and the advantage to us of doing it first thing in the morning was that we were able to catch a lunchtime train to Hamburg and an evening flight to Luton. It is our intention to come back later in September with the car and finish the laying up as well as taking everything home. The blogs will be signing off until next year when we anticipate coming back in May to get back into the water. Destinations for next year are still under review so watch this space!
