Planning to enter the Exe not later than high
water, at springs it is hard work getting into the Exe on the ebb, required a
very early start, so we were motoring out of the Dart on a pleasant morning by
six a.m.
The light south west wind failed to develop, so we
motored all the way, staying close inshore to enjoy the views of the coast,
arriving off the Exe Fairway boy about 30 mins before high water
Exmouth.
The Exe gave us a hint of how fast the tide can run
off Exmouth Dock but there was little of the ebb left as we picked up our
mooring off Starcross.
About half an hour after picking up our mooring
Chris Miller, a friend of John and Richard, came alongside in his rib to drop me
at Starcross and to complete John and Richard's return to Topsham.
