We left Sines at 21:45 after a good meal. The outer
harbour was a bit stressful and probably not the best place to have decided to
put up the main as a pair of tugs came charging across the harbour with powerful
seachlights shining from their bows blinding us and making it immpossible to see
their nav lights and therefore aspect, they both turned off to starboard before
getting too close to us, and after we left the harbour there was no other
traffic until I was asleep, when a fishing boat was heading straight for us, bow
on. That was the only vessel we saw until after daybreak, which came as we
rounded Cape St. Vincent. The wind for the whole passage was light and the sea
state moderate. At this time of year the nights seem long, but we were rewarded
with a splendid sunrise over Cape St. Vincent and a bright morning sunshine
along the south coast to Lagos, arriving in time for lunch.
Enjoyed an excelent meal together yesterday evening
at a favourate resturant of Glen. This morning was an early start as Glen and
Peter had a plane to catch. They were right to leave early as is has
been very windy and raining hard for most of the day. This is the
depression that caused the original passage to Porto Santo to be aborted.
Getting the laundry done has been the main activity, trying to time the runs
between the boat and marina building between the downpours.
