Another Adventure motored into River Dunes yesterday afternoon so today we will be under way again heading for Belhaven. It rained heavily yesterday and on into the evening with impressive lightning illuminating my walk back along the pontoons after spending a the evening with John Travis and Johns brother Chris, from New Zealand.
Earlier in the afternoon Paul and Dinny from the trawler Carry On came for afternoon tea. I had made some Betty Crocker brownies earlier in the day. You really can not go wrong with those packets. I had had dinner with them aboard Carry On the previous evening and on Monday evening we took the courtesy car into Oriental for a meal. Carry On is waiting here for the arrival of a new injector pump for one of her engines. Unlucky for them, but my good fortune to have such sociable neighbours. I have certainly not been lonely here despite the relatively small number of transients that come here. They don't know what they are missing.
The place is wonderfully tranquil and the facilities superb. (see pics). It is also remarkably affordable at only a dollar a foot and a week for the price of five nights deal.
While it has been a very relaxing stop, I have managed to get a few jobs done. Our replacement Red Ensign was too big to fly without getting caught up in the Duogen fan so I've changed the halyard so it can be flown higher up the backstay. Our old ensign is now so faded it is hardly recognisable. A good tidy up and clean below decks, the decks and cockpit hosed down and cockpit cushions washed has made us look a bit smarter, while engine oil change and  oil and fuel filters replaced plus servicing the heads, (ugh) are important maintenance that I had been putting off while we were heading north to get Kay to her flight home.

Well my sandwiches are packed ready for today's passage and I'm waiting for Another Adventures crew to come back from the shops so we can get going.

One of the visitors                                                                              We have seen lots of these. This one stayed still long enough to photograph

Paul and Dinny onboard Carry On.
They call this style of motor vessel Trawlers.
The outrigger on Paul's left supports a hydravane that gives dynamic
stabilisation in rough conditions.
