Our Position is 50:21.069N 3:34.331W
I am happy to report that the position above is
berth C34 Darthaven Marina Kingswear where we moored at 15:20
today.
The last day of our passage has been a mixture of
sailing motorsailing and motoring, in conditions ranging from bright sunshine
full moon to thick fog.
The trip up the channel was as expected busy with
traffic, freighters, ferries, fishing boats, and frigates. Warship Diamond was
exercising with live rounds near the Eddystone Rocks but confirmed that our
track was not going to get us shot at.
The AIS and radar justified their purchase as
visibility dropped to a hundred meters or so at times.
We did see glimpses of the Lizard light flashing,
but our first sight of England proper was Bolt Head shrouded in fog. We sailed
close in past Prawle point and Start Point taking the inshore route past Hall
Sand and Slapton to Dartmouth. Once in the river it was hot and
sunny.
Immigration and customs was dealt with on the phone
only requiring the marina office to fax a copy of
Richards passport to the border agency in Plymouth. This afternoon is
being spent doing laundry showering and then we are off to the pub.
We plan to end our trip in Starcross and Topsham on
Thursday.
