The holding in Seal Bay was very good, giving us a good night's sleep despite the storm, but the downside is that, in the morning, there was a lot of very sticky mud to wash off the chain as the anchor came up. In spite of that we were away by 7:30 as we had a good day's passage ahead. We chose the route south of Vinalhaven, across the bay and through Fishermans Passage. Occasional sightings of seals and dodging through the masses of lobster trap buoys kept us entertained at first but the passage seemed long enough by the time we were entering Boothbay Harbour. The season is over now and hailing the Tugboat Marina gained no response so after picking up one of their buoys for a few minutes to get our bearings we spotted a space on their face dock and went alongside. A local liveaboard was minding the shop for the dockmaster, who had nipped off home early. We had just settled in, taking on water and hooking up the shore power when Dragon's Toy picked up the buoy we had briefly occupied, so I rowed over to suggest we had dinner together. The marina restaurant were doing a special deal on lobster.
Tom had lost a lazy jack up the mast, so I helped him with his trip up the mast first. We all enjoyed the lobster later, two for $15, was good value.
The following day, Monday, we had an easy day looking round the town and doing a bit of shopping. As usual the real grocery stores were out of town so the excersise walking to the Hannafords was a bonus.  There was however a good hardware store in town where I bought some silicone gasket for the outboard repair, and the clothing stores had some excellent bargains  as they tried to clear the last of the summer stock. The items I fancied buying were only available in XXL or XS, but Kay fared better. The town which is crowded in summer was pleasantly empty.
