I dropped my mooring at 5:45 when it was just getting light. I was expecting a slow passage to Crab creek about 50Nm away. The wind was forecast to be unhelpful but better than it had been for the last two days. Once out in the bay it was very overcast 20knots on the nose and irritatingly choppy. Conditions improved slowly through the day with the cloud lifting somewhat and the wind dropping and veering a little. I was able to motorsail with reefed main and then later unfurled increasing amounts of headsail. The only obstacle on the course is the exclusion zone for the Navy research establishment. Once negotiated it was an easy sail into the river and up to Crab Creek.  The entrance to the Creek has some well placed buoys, which is as well as it is very narrow and the deep water is very close to the North shore. I soon spotted Marshal and Susan's Beneteau 49 on the end of their dock and as now it was very sheltered and calm I had no problems sliding in behind the T head and making fast. I had made better time than expected and was an hour earlier than intended so Susan was not yet home. I made a cup of tea and read until I could meet my host. I'm all ready for Kay to arrive back and the No Hard Feelings Cruise to begin
