After the excess of lobster and other barbecued delights I would like to say we slept the sleep of the just but actually it was quite a disturbed night in the middle of the bank. There was more wind and waves than we had anticipated and the boat pitched and rolled all night, albeit quite gently. Disappointingly, when we got up the wind had gone round to the west so there was nothing for it but to motor towards our destination. Before long we had been joined by a small prairie warbler, who hitched a lift with us for about 10 miles before flying off in the direction we had just come from. However there was a boat going that way in the distance so perhaps it just changed its allegiance.

I had intended that we anchor for the night in Honeymoon Harbour at end of Gun Cay, but Ted was concerned about swell with the wind in the West as the shelter wasn’t the greatest, so instead we anchored to the East of North Cat Cay. This is the home to a very exclusive resort and you are only allowed ashore there if you are a member or staying at the marina, and even marina guests are restricted to the marina area. Consequently we remained aboard and ate the rest of the pork chops, only slightly disturbed by private aeroplanes taking off from the runway alongside us. We shared the anchorage with another British boat –somewhat larger than Moorglade, and impressively equipped with an inflatable slide into the water. I spent some time thinking about how we could install one.
