This morning was an early start with a few jobs to do before we departed. Checking this mornings gribs brought no more joy than looking at windguru yesterday evening in the bar, as the forecast was still for unhelpful, irritatingly light winds. Mike skipped breakfast in favour of a swim to the beach and back, about a mile, and then went off with Dave to return the car and pick up another couple of cans of diesel in view of the forecast.
With everything ship shape we motored away from our anchorage at 10:25 and headed out through the reefs that guard the bay. With only the lightest of sea breezes on the nose we continued to motor at about 6 knots on a calm sea until by about 14:00 when the wind filled in from just East of North and gave us a splendid windward sail in about 12 to 15 kts.
So far so good, we hope the breeze will continue through the night as forecast, and fingers crossed tomorrows calm will not materialise.
The sun is sinking and it is time to be cooking our evening meal before the light goes. Then we will settle down for what will be a dark night (almost no moon) of 2 hours on 4 hours off watches.
