The marina here is busy. It’s used by the many motor yachts, in particular, which are used each weekend to enjoy the calm and flat waters of the Ria. The yard is well supported too with all sorts of work being carried out on craft as varied as fishing boats to 80’ sailing yachts.

But it’s not what one might describe as luxurious. Our, admittedly ten year old, pilot book referred to the modern facilities and in particular, to the excellent, if pricey, on site restaurant frequented by the Vigo socialites. It doesn’t exist and moreover, there’s no sign or recollection from anyone, that it ever did! Nevertheless, our reception has been very friendly and helpful.

Perhaps “modern facilities” refers simply to the fact that all the berths are alongside pontoons, rather than stern to mediterranean style.

The city of Vigo is about 4Km away and easy to reach on foot, though the walk is not picturesque and skirts around the eastern docks and railway.
