Sunday has been another essentially slow day. We started off last night goosewinged and sailing flat in next to no breeze...effectively the next best thing to taking down the sails and going for a kip, drifting.  It is surprising how much more tiring it is sailing in light wind to more moderate airs.

In the morning, we set a kite again and maintained our northerly course.  As the afternoon advanced, the wind built and clocked right to arouns 225 degrees, finishing at sunset with 15 knots.

This is ad odds with all our weather info, - there's supposed to be absolutely no wind here tonight...so we are taking a gamble and have gybed, making more than 5 knots in direction 049.

This evening brought two new adventures. They are linked. The first is a recurrence of the trucculent autopilot, which likes to veer off to port at odd times.  It has been fine for 48 hours since the last episode, but chose dusk, as we were trying to bring the kite down and change gear for the night.  So instead of having Nigel on the foredeck for the drop, we did an old fashioned drop into the main companionway, and bagging the kite a few minutes ago we noticed we had a small tear - presumably as a consequence of passing the spreaders on the mast.

Anyway, we are now headed east...ish, at last!
