We have been here almost a fortnight. The various jobs on the boat are almost completed; the engine purrs again, the water pump has been serviced and I have purged the fuel system of the diesel bug which has blighted us from time to time. The boom has been repaired with a riveted piece to stop the kicker hanger moving.

Yesterday, I stitched the zip back in the stack pack. The sun had rotted the stitching!

The local sailmaker cannot repair the kite ( not enough material on the island) though will hopefully return the no 1 today with new strengthening at the corners... We need it in the light wind here.

The weather has been gorgeous. Sunny and warm but without the Caribbean humidity. We have dined at Peters bar and saw Lilian and Eltjo off on Tuesday. Tais showed us around his lovely Contest 50 called Luna Verde.... Luxurious indeed, and he and his wife have headed off east as well

Next stop is São Jorge, just as soon as our post arrives from the uk. We may be accompanied by Phillip and Anne from Golden Breeze against which we are rafted.

Oh, and I have painted a memento of Persephone on the wall this time.

And we revisited Pico, specifically Madalena and had a nice 7 euro lunch, with a 20 Euro bottle of Pico wine

The current excitement here is the arrival of a fleet of Class 40 race boats. We think they have raced from Sable d'Olonne, across Biscay.
