Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Wed 25 Jan 2017 08:35
It is now 0820 UT n Wednesday and we have had a very much better night, in sailing terms, than the last few nights.

After a cracking evening sunset and a wonderful kite reach straight into it, we enloyed an hour or so sailing likethat after dark. However, in order to get overnight rest, we took the kite down around 2200 and reverted to the reliable boomed out genoa style.  Yes, that was slower, but we have better pressure and Persephone's boatspeed has stayed up around the 6 knot mark.  This is so much better. For a start, we will start the day with a battery over 90 per cent full.

We have had supper, enjoyed another couple of episodes of 24 and both had really good sleep. It will be dark here for another hour and a half, so that's how things look at the moment. We have covered 105 miles since 1500 yesterday and have about 30 to go before we reach the gybe point.

It is warm too. Water temperature is 27 now.

The sky is clear and the factor 30 is already up on deck, ready for deployment. 575 miles to go. Less than a Fastnet!
