Bermuda to Azores Sunday 12.5.13

Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Sun 12 May 2013 17:24
Today has been baking day. Karen has made a sponge cake  and a loaf of bread.
Nigel has been busying himself wiith other things on deck. At one point, teamwork was required, for a peel change to increase from No 3 to No 2 genoa. This required Mrs Nav to step into the pit and pull the halyards etc...which she did replete in her pinny!

Later, dressed in oilies, Nigel helped with the washing up....well we are a team, in it together...

Our dramatic leak from yesterday has been dry. We have studied it carefully on both tacks, and the sense of relief on board is palpable.

We are out here in the mid Atlantic, looking for windshifts in order to ease the task of a further 600 mile beat (upwind sail for you non sailors).  We think we have spotted two today, and took advantage. However we are not as far north as Phil, our weather routing sailing guru, would have us, and will spend another night, we think, on starboard, trying to get further north.

It has been pleasant today, though now, 1700UT, it has just clouded over and the temperature has dropped markedly.

Position as at 1700 UT is;

38 08.305N  41 17.227W

The going upwiind is slow, but otherwise, all well.

Off to enjoy Madeira Cake, with chocolate spread and a cup of coffee!
