This is day 4, after our third night at sea, though in fact, we have yet to complete our 3rd 24 hour period, which comes up in about 6 hours.

A very quiet night at sea, rolling along on a starboard beam reach in gentle seas. Power (electrical) seems to be very manageable, with Jenny and Fred in simbiotic balance. Our new solar panel, sourced in St Martin tops up the equation so that by mid afternoonn, any deficit we had in battery capacity, has been eradicated and we start each night with 100 per cent charge.

Details, details, but these are some of the important things we need to monitor on a 2000 plus mile passage.

This morning, the wind has clocked further right to about 137 degrees and is about 11or 12 knots. We are making 5 to 6 knots in direction 006.

It remains hot, though refreshingly cooler at night. Starting to use a sheet to cover the slumbering off watch in the early hours.

We received a strange email from Lilian on W2W...suggesting that they are thinking of skipping the Azores and heading straight to mainland Portugal...their plans displaced by a significant low pressure system north of the Azores.

It is delightfully calm here....if maybe a tad slower than optimal.
