DR to Bermuda, Saturday 20th April
Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Sat 20 Apr 2013 16:24
This morning, after a fairly feisty night,
conditions have improved considerably.
We are almost close hauled, but with a full main.
We have kept the no 3 genoa as it is a good deal easier to slab in a reef than
it is to change a headsail and we expect some squalls as we close in on
Bermuda.
Speed is down a tad to 6.7 knots over the ground
and we have a light favourable current, maybe half a knot or so. Wind is 13
knots from the east and we continue to climb east of our rhumb line in
anticipation of a header later this afternoon.
Karen has emerged from the depths of seasickness,
which has lifted the mood on board palpably.
On the downside, I have bailed out about 3 gallons
of water from the bilge. Persephone has been essentially dry up til now. The
suspected cause is a stanchion base, graunched in Ocean World Marina, but we
will investigate to find out where it has come from.
We also have a few new creaks from the
woodwork....
Position at noon Saturday, 1600 UTC is 27
27.431N, 67 04.249W
All well on board.
