Then, as Friday started to overtake us and we homed in on the headland at Denia, the sky darkened all around us, and an electrical storm with flashes of sheet and forked lightning, rolls of thunder and all, developed. We slabbed in a couple of reefs just in case, as a line of waterspouts developed to the east of us. In short, we were braced for a battering. But all that happened was an absolutely torrential rainstorm, the wind shut off and after an hour or so, the sun returned. Those waterspouts simply melted away, like ghosts.
So on went the engine, and we spent the afternoon motoring towards the inviting anchorage at Moraira, subject of these pages some 6 weeks ago.
