Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Mon 16 Jan 2017 18:56
Today has been a better day. Yesterday's frustrating night of 7 knots and big waves, is well behind us and we have been able to sail proper VMG angles downwind today, especially this afternoon. We now have a practically ideal 13 knots of wind.

We are still headed south west to skirt around a dead patch in the wind to our west. I think we might have enough southing by dawn, so we'll decide if and when to gybe after breakfast.

Life on board is settling into a comfortable routine; the film nights continue, thanks to a veritable surplus of electricity provided by Jenny and although we have now munched our way through all the fresh meat supplies we brought, there is no shortage of variety or quality from the galley. Lunch today, for example, was gazpacho. Tonights corned beef hash may hold few secrets, but perhaps I'll report on how that went when I update these pages tomorrow.

And we haven't touched the frozen meat we have stashed in the freezer. Freezer!? I hear my fellow Sigma 38 owners cry....surely that puts Persephone out of class?....well fear not, it's just best use made of the little cooler plate box in the top of the fridge. We have forgone the luxury of iced drinks, in favour of a small amount of long term meat storage.

Our friends on Win2Win are in touch by email, boasting of daily fish catches. We are not fishing. 2 reasons; 1. don't like the messy end game and 2. Jenny is towed constantly behind the boat, and there might be conflict if two lines are streamed.

Anyway, It's great fun out here, a little like one of those all inclusive holiday resorts, where everything is included, paid for in advance and the management strongly advise you not to leave the premises during your stay. But....we are still dry, in every sense.
