Well, we now have wind!
Today has been a day of progressively shortening
sail. We started with a full main and no2, then reefed the main. At 17 knots
true, around 15:30 we "peeled" to the No3, (in truth, we turned downwind and did
a swift change without me getting wet) and at 19:30 we slabbed in No2 reef
on the main. So we are set up for the night and expect 19 or 20 knots
of wind for the next 24 hours or so.
The building breeze has mounted up the seas and it
is almost impossible to sail a true close hauled course. The waves just stop the
boat. I am pleased I went down a chain size on the anchor this year,
too, as the bow is a lot more buoyant than when we crossed the Atlantic in
2017...there must be 30Kg less chain in there!
Other than a fair mount of sailing action, with all
those sail changes, not much else to report. All well. Simple pasta supper
tonight.
