Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Thu 22 Jun 2017 18:19
It is now 18:15 UT and Persephone is still sailing due east, close to a waypoint suggested by Tim as a means to attempt to skirt around a fallowpatch of no wind further north.

Our daily run, measured from 13:15 Caribbean time was 161 miles, second only to that achieved on the very first day, back on 4th June.

Today feels very Atlantic...grey, misty with drizzle. Progress has slowed this afternoon with the reducing breeze and all we want to do is simply getthere now.

Unfortunately, there are other things todo as well as the sailing. Diesel has been spotted in the bilge, which ultimately leads to a very unhappy ship. With the reducing breeze today, I have nvestigaed, fearing that we might have a defective tank. I am pretty sure now though, that the tank is ok and that the very small leak is from the filler pipe or the breather pipe.  The clips have been tightened now and tissue paper planted in strategic positions to see if we have cured the problem.

We have just had a nicoise salad lunch, and are spending much time reading and listening to music.

No news today from the nature department.

All we xan thimk of is East, East, East.....looking forward to catching up with all our friends in Horta, especially Lilian and Eltjo who are waiting for us to arrive.

600 miles to go....
