After a few days basking in the reflected glory of a succesful Atlantic crossing, we became subject to "marina fever". This is an interesting maladie, brought on by a dangerous cocktail comprising of rum, tall tales of derring do, as well as long periods of relaxation time, out of the reach of watch leaders and the like. Too many repeated conversations, fabulous parties and, frankly, an overdose of congratulations.

So we decided to embark on our first "Carribean cruise"...a delightfully short 7 mile trip around the west coast of St Lucia  to Marigot Bay. This is a reknowned beauty spot and film location, with palm fringed beaches and a lovely "hurricane hole" style anchorage. We encountered or first crop of boat boys who were intent on supplying us with all manner of comestibles and services but succeeded in the first instance of providing little more than a nuisance while we found a suitable anchoring spot.

Once established, we swam around the boat, engaged in some bona fide trade withthe aforementioned boat boys and selected a fine restaurant for dinner.

The Marigot Bay resort is a magnet for super yachts and we were impressed by Lionheart (J class replica) and another huge super yacht, gleaming in her mooring.

The Rainforest Hideway restaurant was reassuringly expensive and delightful. Wonderful steaks. The Doolittle cafe sorted us lunch (Rex Harrison and crew made a film here in the 60's) and we were able to catch up with Jonathan and Liz from Seren Wen, who were unable to complee the ARC but flew across for some Carribean hols nevertheless.

Lovely, restful place. Uncrowded, terriffic sunsets and all round R'nR destination....
