Last night brought some fast  sailing in relatively flat water. We popped a reef in the main and changed down to our small headsail for the night.

Shortly after dark, the Swedish yacht, Liberator, with whom we had a seried of VHF conversations, slipped across our bows from to windward, and continued off eastward.

We have stuck to the rhum line to Scillies.

The phosphorescence last night was a thing of wonder. The boat seemed to be riding on a fiery carpet, and the bow wave illuminated by bright lights. Equally stunning was the light show offered to us from 30m astern, where the propeller of our faithful towing generator created an additional show in the water.

Today has been a story of building wind, and shortening sail. The sun came out this afternoon too and we feel motivated to press on.

The sea is lumpy, but not as lumpy as the mid Atlantic when we were on our way to Horta.

All well, and 400 miles to go!
