Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Mon 23 Jan 2017 09:56
We didn't quite get the 15 knots of wind I wished for overnight. It was more like 10 or 11, so we have completed about 50 miles since my report last night. It is dawn here now at 0930 UT and the breeze is stepping up just a tad, so we are making about 6 knots in gusts.

It looks ike another bright blue day in prospect.

At about 0600 we crossed paths with a freight vessel called Union Ranger, bound for Lagos in Nigeria and Karen had the briefest of exchanges with him on VHF.  To give you some idea of our overnight speed, his opening comment on VHF was;
"Motor vessel Persephone, motor vessel Persephone, we are on a collision course. Are you under way or drifting?"

Karen, of course replied that we were in fact, sailing and he duly altered his course to pass behind us.

That's it for excitement just now. 813 miles to go. 1928 miles completed.  Computer says 28th Jan (again!)
