Rather a nice sail. Gently reaching out of Barbate, we sailed well offshore to round the Cape of Trafalgar safely. The breeze continued to be behind us and was a little lighter than the day before, and we elected to sail under mainsail only. A slightly bizarre exchange took place over the VHF as we passed a Spanish yacht lazily running down under genoa alone. The wind died as we passed the West Cardinal marking the Laja del Norte, a rocky ledge extending underwater off the western point of Cadiz.

We continued across the bay to Rota, arriving after the office had closed, and our lines were taken by the crew of Varieties, a Westerly Storm from the Solent.

The Marinero helped with a top up of the diesel tank....the forecast was for next to no wind for the next few days, reducing as we progressed west.

A lovely Italian meal in Rota, surrounded by Americans, presumably forces families based at the Nato base..
