Bermuda to Azores, Day 3, 4.5.13

Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Sat 4 May 2013 15:16
Yesterday evening, we slabbed in our normal reef in the main as the wind piped up to a magnificent 15 knots at dusk. The afternoon had seen us peel to the No 1 genoa, and then back down again. Persephone's bowman not exactly "cat like" but getting the job done nevertheless, by shuffling along on his bottom on the foredeck, like an unwilling todddler, not ready to try walking on hind legs.

Through the night though, the wind dropped and veered a little, so we made adjustments to our heading to keep boat speed up to something presentable. This meant turning slightly north....

In the morning, we shook out the reef and manned the computer to receive an important message from Philip....it's ok now to get some northing....and fortunately we were already doiing just that!

Incidentally, onlookers would, we think, be impressed by team Persephone's ability to slab in, or shake out a reef in the main. It takes us a litle under 5 minutes from conceptiion to completion....half the time it was taking us on the way to Dominiican Republic.....practise makes perfect!

We are now looking forward to hearing news of day 1 of the Nationals...the main windward / leeward races.....

All well, and no mal de mer. We are playing cards!
