Saturday has been a day of two halves. It started with an encouraging fill in to the breeze in the early hours of the morning, setting us off at a fair pace on port gybe. Then came a slow shift to the left, enabling us to gybe and make a course of due north, which is what we want to follow Tim's guidance as weather router.

All that was before breakfast. The rest of the day was a stunning sail...a real blue day. A blue boat, with a pale blue spinnaker sailing in an amazing blue sea under a clear blue sky.

But all good things come to an end, and slowly the wind reduced until an hour before dusk, it vanished altogether.

So now we are gently motoring north.  The hole in the wind is nrarly 200 miles wide, so we motor slowly to eke out our fuel, hoping against hope that the latest GRIB downloads are on the essimistic side and that some wind will fill in over the next 72 hours.

On te plus side, the moonrise we have just witnessed was spectacular, as the unusually large looking orange disc crept up over the horizon. Very full moon, very clear sky, so tonight will be bright.

Te watermaker is on, so maybe some additional showers tonight!
