Today has been a frustrating day. The wind has
fallen to around 10 knts, sometimes less. So we are working hard to keep the
sails full in the continuing swell.
At 1400 we opted to gybe, as the VMG on port tack
was slipping away, and initially, the plan seemed to have immediate results; our
speed in the direction we want to go, shot up and all was good. But since
then, the wind has progressively died and we have had to sail higher and higher
angles, so now our VMG on starboard is the same as we had before
gybing.
Basically, we need a bit more wind pressure, but
there's nothing in the forecasts to suggest we are going to get
any.
We have passed some of the time in the
communication suite that is Persephone's chart table. Karen has been catching up
on emails and we also had the pleasure of a couple of satellite voice calls to
Tim and Oli, which has cheered us up, if that were needed!
It's all ok here, but the date of arrival in
Barbados is a little bit debatable. Maybe 28th? Just now wating for
the mileageto go, to fall through the 1000 mark. And just as I write this,
12 knots of wind have arrived and we are scooting along at 6.5
knots!
