It is dawn after our first night at sea. we left La
Gomera at 1500 yesterday, in no wind. Hoisting the mainsail, we somehow broke 8
of the plastic sliders and immediately had to haul it down again. Fortunately, I
had spares on board and after an hour of repairs, we were ready to
rehoist.
Once we left the lee of Tenerife, the wind built to
an easterly of around 20 knots so we slabbed in a reef. We set off after Win2Win
who were about 4 miles head and quickly passed the Halberg Rassy 42, Pinta who
left around the same time.
We caught up with W2W around midnight and are
travelling marginally faster. Fabulous moonlit night, with clear
sky.
Wind is now 24knots from 084. It looks like it will
be a very sunny day.
