Bermuda to Azores, 9.5.13

Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Thu 9 May 2013 16:00
Well, we seem to be settling into the trip nicely.

A week and a day have passed since we left Bermuda. We have covered something like 1200 miles.

Last night, we benefitted from a further veer in the wind and for the last 12 hours or so we have been able to sail straight at our target, which is, of course, Horta on the island of Faial, 770 miles away.

Wise informants tell us that we will pass through a squally front later on tonight and emerge on the other side with a backing breeze, enabling us to tack and sail off to the north...though as things lie, we are quite happy with our course made good at the moment. In about 2 hours we will be as far north as we have been so far on this passage, which was at around 1800 UT on 6th May.

We have swopped books today...the Persephone book club is in fairly constant session, and Nigel is learning the ways of Karen's Kindle...Nigel has passed Karen the Martina Cole left on board by George in the BVI's....which seems such a long time ago now.

Anyway, all well here, apart from the lack of any further milk supplies.....we have some emergency dried milk somewhere, though...

The daily run to 1500UT was our second highest at 142 Miles

Position at 1600UT is ;
