Rachel spent 6 days in Ponta Delgada hospital, where the treatment - an intra-medullary rod inserted into her broken humerus - and aftercare were excellent.  We then flew back to Santa Maria and Paul organised everything for leaving Lynn Rival while Rachel recuperated in a 4* hotel for another week.  Being right-handed, breaking her left arm is not so bad but she's not going to be fit for passage-making for a few months so it was best to return to the UK.  Although the hospital care was covered under the EHIC scheme, our insurers have been great in picking up the tab for other expenses.

Back in the UK Rachel is doing physio and seems to be healing well.  In the meantime Paul has now flown back to the Azores with Bob to sail Lynn Rival to Lisbon.
