We left Lisbon yesterday and arrived in Lagos just over 24 hours later having covered 141 nautical miles.  Not bad going as we spent the first three hours motoring against the tide getting out of the Tagus river and dodging the Sunday sailors and fishermen.  The winds were mostly moderate to strong and from behind so we only used the genoa until we reached Cape St Vincent.  Thereafter we had a fast reach in flat seas.

The trip started badly as Paul managed to break his Kindle, which didn't like being leant on heavily when the boat lurched.  Later Rachel noticed that the genoa furling tubes were coming apart  once again.  We wondered what the third incident would turn out to be.  In the middle of the night the Aries blade lifted up - probably because it hit something - so we chose to hand steer from then on.  At least that wasn't too serious - we hope.

We plan to stay in Lagos for a few days sorting out the genoa furling, the fridge and other teething problems before we leave for more exotic locations.
