Had a fantastic birthday day on Sunday. Started with champagne breakfast, followed by a facial and massage at the hotel spa in town and lunch in a lovely French restaurant where they had decorated the table with Heureux Anniversaire glitzy papers. We then had coffee at the 5 star resort which is next to the restaurant. More champagne onboard – Mark gave me a bottle of Lanson rose- and a few steps on the dance floor of the marina bar. In bed by 1am...

We re-visited the village where we had been a few weeks ago. They had asked for nails for the new roof of their Nakamal or meeting center. They were very happy that we kept our promise and brought them two big bags of 2 inches nails. they live of their little patches of land that they cultivate, go fishing, have a few chicken and pigs and get wood from the jungle. They don’t earn money as such.

There is a short weather window opening tomorrow for a passage to Noumea, New Caledonia so we will go the Customs and Immigration first thing in the morning to get our clearance papers and hopefully be on our way by midday or early afternoon. Watch the blog for our progress!
