All good here in Tonga. Sitting on our buoy in this
amazing bay, resting and watching the world go by…
Although we are still in Polynesia, it feels very different
here than in French Polynesia. No high peaks.
The landscape is a lot softer. Very green, loads of trees and palm trees. Even
people features are different, in a way they are better looking, more proud. Men
are very elegant in their sarong skirts. It is very poor. It isn’t helped
by the recent recession which has affected the country badly. Tourism has taken
a big plunge and a lot of the hotels, restaurants and tourists attractions have
closed down.
We are going to the village now to find the laundrette.
Being closer to New Zealand
and Australia
means that the weather is more variable. We are expecting a bit of a blow on
Thursday. Never mind, we are securely attached (we hope!) to a buoy this week!
