The EJ's Voyage

As our ETA to St Lucia is now Sunday morning, this
is my last turn to write this Transatlantic Crossing daily
blog!
And what an experience it has been! We are all
amazed at how fast time has been running by. We have been blessed with a happy
boat. The boys have been sweet and good fun. I haven't even missed other female
company. Mind you, we have our Daisy on board. No name will be mentioned and
you'll have to guess who it is... :-)
We have had lots of laughter and also a little bit
of swearing, mainly from me I have to confess, when things keep falling on
me in the galley because of the rock and rolling of the boat in the big swells.
One of the big wave flew me off the galley and I landed next to the chart table
halfway in the port cabin! No harm done but considering that we all wear next to
nothing all the time, it is extremely lucky that no one has been hurt. How Jamie
manages to produce all this fantastic cooking in these conditions is beyond me!
Just making coffee or doing the washing up seems always to be a struggle for
me!
Apart from ripping the spinnaker and the one night
when we were caught by strong winds causing us to accidentally jibe and causing
minor damage to the vang and canopy, all has been running smoothly so
far.
We still have food to feed an army but then again,
our adventure doesn't stop in St Lucia so nothing will go to waste.
I am still not a big fan of night watches
although I loved looking at the millions of stars and the phosphorus on the
water. The moon has been so bright these last few days that it looks like
somebody has turn on a 100 watts light bulb above our head. So mysterious and
beautiful.
I enjoy looking at the sea for hours
during the day. It is never the same one second, the different colours, the
shape of the waves, the ever changing skies transport your imagination into
a world of your own made of dreams and thoughts. Fantastic.
I will be happy to land in St Lucia though as I am
looking forward to see Irene and Malcolm jumping up and down on the quay with
that bottle of bubbly Irene said she would bring! :-) It will be good for Mike
to get there too as he is now very tired. It was of course a huge responsibility
for him to bring all of us safely to destination and to make sure that
everything is kept in good running order onboard. It is constant maintenance for
him often in awkward position like in the engine room. But he has been great and
well respected by all of us. So lucky to have him and so proud of
him!
Quelle merveilleuse aventure.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE BLOG ON HTTP://BLOG.MAILASAIL.COM/FALBALA
doesn't stop once in St Lucia. We will keep on updating it during the years to
come for as long as our sailing voyage continues. Keep on looking at
it!
So that's it from me for now.
Take care
Love to all
