The EJ's Voyage

Just a quick note to say that we have arrived in
Cuba! Good crossing from Key West. The wind picked up in the late evening and
again with more force after midnight so we ended up putting 2 reefs in the
mainsail and only had the staysail out. We were still sailing at 7.5kts. It was
quite bumpy, mostly East Southerlies. Never came round to the North as
forecasted.
We caught a crab pot in our Duogen propeller but no
damage was done.
We have spent the last few hours clearing into
Cuba. We had a doctor onboard, followed by the Ministry of Agriculture,
representatives of the Ministry of Interior, a dog snuffer for drugs quite cute
actually a little cocker Spaniel just like Gypsy, a guy from La Guardia and
there is still another one on board now, I think from Marina Hemingway where we
are now moored. Each one filling the same kind of forms!
However they are all extremely polite and kind. So
no big hassle, just a game of patience.
Sunny and still very breezy.
Quite tired now after the night at sea so we will
have something to eat, rest for a bit and then out and about to see this
wonderful place that everyone says Cuba is!
So more later. Just wanted to reassure the ones we
know worry about us that we are safe and well.
Love
Catherine and Mike
