Yes, you guessed it! We are still in
Annapolis!
Mike has been very busy doing all sorts of very
clever (and physically challenging) jobs on the boat, like installing a sea
water washdown pump by the windlass in the anchor locker. It's in order to
make my job easier when lifting the anchor up which has tons of mud attached to
it and to get rid of ! No more buckets and sponge
jobbie for me! Hurrah!
We took a walk round the US Naval Academy
yesterday. What an amazing place! a 338 acre complex and more than 4000
midshipmen (or students). The midshipmen spend three to four years there.Huge
and beautiful buildings and sports facilities. They have a museum with
a unique collection of ships models, most of them being of British
ships of the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries.Said to be the most valuable in the
world. Lucky guys and girls who are privileged to study in
such an exceptional environment.Dartmouth would died with envy if they saw it.
20 minesweeper type boats to learn to drive. 18x 38 foot cruisers ,3 far 50's
and about 50 dinghies . somewhat better than in my days a HMS
Worcester
Yesterday afternoon we moved to Back Creek to dock
in a marina as it would be easier to get the new set of service batteries
on board that Mike bought at the Yacht Show earlier in the week. We thought we
would stay here for one night only but as predicted, the weather has turned
nasty during the night, gale force winds and it hasn't stopped raining
today. So we are still here!
Mike is being a busy bee again installing the
new batteries and putting the interior back together - everything had to come
out of the port cabin to take the old batteries out and put the new ones in, and
the forward cabin had to be stripped of everything including one of the
bulkheads to install the anchor washdown pump. I have done some clearing
out and cleaning jobs and now I am freezing my butt of sitting in the cockpit
writing this blog. Will dive inside soon and put the heater on!!! It was
installed just for our Scottish trip two years ago but a blessing
now!
Hopefully the weather will get better by the
weekend and we will be able to move further South in the Chesapeake bay. Hoping
to round Hatteras during the last week this month to be in Ft
Lauderdale by 16th Nov for our flight home on the 17th
Despite the weather we are still smiling! Hope you
are all smiling too!!
Hugs from us
Cat and Mike
