The EJ's Voyage

We had an eventful night last night during Holger's
watch. First a big black cloud shifted the wind 180 degrees and he had to wake
Mike up to deal with the sails. In the meantime the rain fell very hard. It only
lasted about 5 minutes and all went back to normal again.
Then at about 2 o'clock in the morning he spotted
lights from a huge fishing boat right on our course. So Mike was called on
deck again. The fishing boat's intentions were not clear and we couldn't be sure
whether he was trailing a fishing or net or not but after a while we could see
he was carrying on his course so we had to alter ours and pass him from the
stern. All that in increasing winds and heavy seas. All was well in the
end.
We woke up under thick clouds again this morning
but now, it is 11:30am, the sky is breaking up with sun patches. The wind has
increased to 20 - 22 knots and the swells are big and short. We therefore
rolling quite a bit.
The boys cooked a superb meal last night. Holger
prepared a ceviche with the last fillet of the Mahi-Mahi he caught and
Mike marinated and cooked a pork loin accompanied by red cabbage for
which he did a succulent reduction sauce of onion, small pepper and white
wine, and rice.
I will have a hard job tonight to match it
up!
All good onboard.
A demain
Love
Mike and Catherine
