3 March 2009 - Nassau
The EJ's Voyage

Arrived in Nassau last night. Impressive entrance
to the harbour. Sailed under the bridge and berthed in Nassau Yacht Haven. All
safe and well after our rough passage, until I fell on deck in the harbour (!)
and badly hurt my right hand. Went to hospital today. The x-ray showed no
fracture but thumb out of alignment due to torn and stretched ligaments - or
something along those lines!. Anyway, they put me a hand brace and of
course gave me anti-inflammatory. Nothing serious but just a big pain being
right-handed. Can't even write anymore or sign credit card receipts (Mike is
happy about that one but he will not be laughing when we will be
sailing again as I can't hoist the main anymore and he will have to do it!).
Cindy has been a great help and I will be very sad to see her going tomorrow.
She has a 14:00 plane to Miami, will stay the night in a hotel and fly back to
Brussels on Thursday. I wish she could stay. We will both miss her.
Last night we had a delicious dinner at East Coast,
a Chinese restaurant next to the marina. There was so much food - American
portions! -that we took half of it away with us.
Nassau is a pleasant place. We had lunch
in town today and a good look around. Very pleasant. Then we went to Paradise
Island where the Atlantis hotel is. That was fascinating! Very well done. Cindy
loved it and took millions of photos!
Weather a bit chilly tonight. The forecast shows
that the front should pass and the wind back to easterlies by Thursday
night. So we intend to leave for Ft Lauderdale on Thursday midday. 30 hrs to
destination. Let's hope the forecast is correct.
Dinner on board tonight which Cindy had to prepare.
I feel so useless.
Hope you are all well. More news to
come...
Love
Catherine and Mike
